- The Snappy is an image digitizer that plugs into your parallel port. If
- you've ever seen a DigiView you've got the general idea. It can grab a
- still frame from a live video signal and you don't need a TBC.
-
- It's packaged with Fauve Matisse (paint program) and Gryphon Morph (morph
- program). According to the brochure it will also emulate scanners with a
- Twain interface so you could scan an image directly into a PhotoShop
- without having to use the Snappy interface and save it to the disk first.
-
- The quality looked very good to me when I saw it at the Comdex show in
- Vancouver. You can grab a field, frame, or multi-frames. (it oversamples
- the signal, there's no motion)
- It scans at 320*240, 640*480, or 1500*1125. (you need 8 megs for the last
- one, 4 megs for the lower resolutions)
- Play inc had a disk full of images they were giving out at the show that
- had been done with the Snappy. Perhaps if you phone them they'll send you
- the disk or tell you where you can download them from. Ph: 916-851-0800
-
- All in all I was very impressed with it. The only reason I don't have one
- is that I've got a PAR in my Amiga and it's more practical for me to get a
- TBC4 for motion digitizing.
-
- By the way, you DO know that this is a PC product right?
